In combination, Cefpodoxime is third generation cephalosporin antibiotics acts by inhibiting cell wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid is an irreversible inhibitor of beta lactamase enzyme and has mild antibiotic activity. When this combination is used, it allow Cefpodoxime to work as a bacteriocidal and enhances its activity. It is indicated in Community Acquired Pneumonia, Uncomplicated Skin and Skin Structure Infections and Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections.
